  • NC Botanical Garden: NC Hwy 54 Bypass at Old Mason Farm Rd, Chapel Hill, NC 27514, (919) 962-0522. Native trees, plants, and wildflowers in habitats of all areas of NC, interpretive trails, herb and other gardens. Tours, courses, advice, plant sales, walking trails.

Parks include:

  • Carrboro Community Park: 95 acres with lake surrounded by trails and picnic areas. Includes ball fields, a football area, tennis courts and a playground.

  • Cedar Falls Park: 65 acres with six lighted tennis courts, a soccer-football field, two Little League ball fields, two softball fields, trails, playground and picnic facilities. Weaver Dairy Road, Chapel Hill.

  • Hargraves Park: Multipurpose Park includes outdoor pool, tennis and basketball courts, Hargraves Center, Robeson Road, Chapel Hill.

  • Umstead Park: 20 acres includes multipurpose building, playground and picnic area by creek, jogging trails, basketball court. off Airport Road, Chapel Hill.

  • Wilson Park: Neighborhood Park includes lighted tennis courts, softball field, and a picnic shelter.

Ham Radio

Orange County Radio Amateurs (OCRA) meets on the second Monday of each month at the Orange County 911 Center on New Hope Church Road. (919) 932-5558 or (919) 966-6321.

Homemakers

Extension Homemakers Club meets at 10 a.m. the first Tuesday of the month in Orange United Methodist Church, Chapel Hill. (919) 942-3238

Knitters Guild

The Chapel Hill Knitters Guild meets twice a month on the second Thursday and on the fourth Monday 7 to 9 PM. at Chapel of the Cross Church, 304 East Franklin Street. Meetings include knitting, conversation, networking. (919) 929-8908

Mineral Club

The Central North Carolina Mineral Club has its regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month at the Chapel Hill Senior Center, 400 South Elliott Road. Chapel Hill collectors, rock hounds, cutters and jewelry makers, and other visitors are welcome. Call (919) 929-9179.

Triangle Sports and Outings Club
